Helping offenders erase their records
Her campaign launch highlighted her work on expungement initiatives, the legal process for clearing criminal convictions off a person's record. Under Alabama's 2021 expungement law, expunged convictions are sealed from public view, so employers, landlords and neighbors running a background check won't see them. A district judge's job is holding offenders accountable. She's running on helping them make the record disappear.123
Backed by an indicted liberal group
Endorsed by the SPLC Action Fund, the political arm of the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC is under federal indictment: in April 2026 a grand jury charged it with 11 counts, including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, alleging it secretly paid at least $3 million to people tied to the Ku Klux Klan and other extremist groups. The SPLC has pleaded not guilty. The same organization put Moms for Liberty, a parents' rights group with a Madison chapter, on its “hate map” alongside the Klan.456
